Hold on. Hold on. Palin just made the argument military service is the path to the White House. What? Really? Is that in the Constitution? Sure it’s one way, but no one has ever made the connection that McCain’s military service and POW status make him ready to be president. She jumped the shark here but no one in the audience cared. They lovedĀ her and the speech.

Did Bush and Cheney serve?
ReplySince Sarah Palin has no military experience, she is not qualified to be in the White House by her own statndards; especially if she were to assume to office of presidency.
ReplyGeorge Bush flew fighter-intercepters in the Texas Natl Air Guard.
And military serve has always been a selling-point in American politics, which is all the more reason that military service MUST be open to gays and lesbians.
ReplyPalin has been trying to fluff up her cred by pointing out that she is the Commander In Chief of her state’s National Guard. Among her few mobilizations: security for a marathon (she’s a runner, you know). Hooah! I am really tired of seeing our troops being used like little plastic soldiers by the GOP.
Cheney successfully applied for five draft deferments during his college years, which happened to coincide with the Vietnam War. He was all for the war, but had “other priorities” than serving in the military.
ReplyI’m certain that our current president would have been much better at his job if he had been held as a POW and tortured for a few years. Maybe not.
