Withers: Let the Denver games begin
Well this is it. Today is the day every political junkie has been jonesing for; the start of the Democratic Party convention.
The festivities begin with many questions: will Team Obama/Biden effotlessly navigate the next four days, put on a good party, keep drama to a minimum, and create a sense of Democratic party unity for a fall battle with John McCain? Or will the fissures between Clinton and Obama supporters, so raw during the long winding primary, erupt and sink Obama/Biden before they get out of the gate?
I’m not a betting man but I’m sensing some PUMA’s will do everything they can to make the convention a failure for the presumptive nominee. However, as this election season has proven over and over, predictions are ultimately useless. So why even engage in them, no?
This week Jennifer and I will be live-blogging each night of the convention. She’s got a front row seat in Denver while I, alas, am home in New York (Billie the dog is happy I stayed home….I think). Drop by. Leave notes. Have fun.
