Withers: Ten random thoughts

1. RIP E. Lynn Harris. There is still no official cause of death.
2. Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, is pro choice and supports gay marriage. The Republican is running in the 23rd District’s (NY) special election. A few Repubs are loudly saying she does not represent the GOP.
3. Looks like Iran has fell off the fold.
4. Does it mean anything that I’ve never been to Fire Island, NY?
5. Ex-governor Sarah Palin has to hire some speech writers.
6. Congressional candidate Anthony Woods (another West Point grad discharged because of DADT) is getting some national exposure for his campaign.
7. Nothing is more depressing than listening to minorities argue what is, or isn’t, part of a particular minority experience.
8. Never been perceived as a good minority (by gays or blacks). Plan on keeping it that way.
9. New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has secured a promise from the Senate Armed Services Committee to have fall hearings on DADT.
10. I’m starting to appreciate Godfather III.

I believe there should be a Palin / Withers ticket for the republican party!
Together they could achieve more nothing than any other administration in history.
Gerry Fisher Said:
“…doesn’t mean that we actually hate her.
…You’re going to repeat the Ditto Head line as often as possible in order …to garner sympathy for Palin.”
Foolish child; why would anyone want to garner sympathy for someone that you claim, with such vitriol, is not hated?
>Someone will have to explain to me why queers HATE Palin so much that shes still revenant news material.
Somebody got his far-right talking point today! Just because you say “why do [insert group on the Left] hate Sarah Palin so much?” doesn’t mean that we actually hate her.
I know, I know, that won’t stop you. You’re going to repeat the Ditto Head line as often as possible in order to try to create a political reality and to garner sympathy for Palin.
Yawn.
>Does it mean anything that I’ve never been to Fire Island, NY?
Neither have I.
But I have been to Provincetown, Key West, the Castro, and the Village in NYC. Maybe the “rule” should be having visited one of the gay Mecca/resort/cultural areas. It’s OK if you skip a few, IMO. Skip too many, though, and we take away your membership card and make you give back your toaster.
Another random thought. Why is it every time a gay person makes the news some fo the first words is often “Openly Gay”. This is not necessary.
Actually, it was condensed enough that I thought it was an improvement; it generally stayed centered, so with less asides and more substance, you have to allow for some freedom or it would strip the writer of his voice. It does veer to the “dear diary” side a few times, but it generally stays in orbit and is succinct enough that it almost comes across as being a “hot sheet” of bulletin alerts.
I kinda wish it evolved into or was simply repackaged as “Ten Weekly Talking Points” or some such. Then with pertinent substance, it would dovetail nicely with 365’s coming forums and allow the writer to christen the weekly feature as a launchpad for the weekly discussions.
……
Someone will have to explain to me why queers HATE Palin so much that shes still revenant news material. I get that shes not queer friendly, I just dont get why anyone cares. I’m an apostate democrat, & I sense the libs are scared shitless that she could emerge as real competition. Again, I dont know why queers care; look at what we got now: speeches. I dont care how homophobic a prez is, there really isnt much s/he can do about it. More advances were made under Bush 43 than Bubba Clinton. I get Palin. I really do not get why queers seem to hate her so. I mean seething, roiling hatred. Maybe the dem’s plan is that they dont need to keep us on the crack-pipe of slow, incremental rights to enforce loyalty, they just need to brainwash everyone that the competition is evil. She’s aggressive, sharp but not visibly erudite, and a dichotomous medley of brash crudity yet steeped in bourgeois tradition. In other words, a typical American. The more bizarre her ideas, the harder they would be to pass, so whats everyone so in huff about?
4. Does it mean anything that I’ve never been to Fire Island, NY?
8. Never been perceived as a good minority (by gays or blacks). Plan on keeping it that way.
Why does 365Gay waste time, space and resources on this non-sensible babble? Do they think this type of “writing” is of any interest to most of us who read 365Gay for the gay related news stories? Come on! Get better contributing writers.
“8. Never been perceived as a good minority (by gays or blacks). Plan on keeping it that way.”
Quite so, quite so. Excellent plan. Teehee!
