I don’t understand why the majority of African Americans hate us so much. They should understand our pain, but I guess it is OK for them to discriminate against us, but it is not OK for us to discriminate against it. That is a double standard.

I can say i have been called “Fag” and “Bitch” by many blacks, so if they refer to me in what they deem to be my sexuality as opposed to the color of my skin…

I would say that EQUATES to the same Ill discrimination that they claim to get or have gotten in the 60’s etc. because of the color of their skin. Bout time for some big name black leaders to get on board! Where’s al sharpton, etc?

Why doesn’t the HRC get some of the people on our rights movement group?

I said it and will say it over and over again, most of my African American family and friends are hearing in their churches and not from Educated representatives of why LGBT rights (for ALL ppl of all races) is important and much needed in our country…

But the way it was used of course is derogatory.

Anyway, why don’t our gay leaders jump on these political chances. We just sit back and preach to the choir. Don’t tell us about it, get this into the mainstream news and interviews.

I had no idea he was still involved in politics. I hope his hypocrisy gets pointed out during the debate in Washington

As a side note, Sarrellec’s comments give the accusation of racism within the Gay community some validity.

I lived in Washington, DC from 1980 to 1986, when Marion Barry was mayor (for the first time; I believe he served two or three terms). The pathetic shadow who’s completely embarrassed himself is simply not the dynamic individual (and friend of the gay community) that I recall from those days. Perhaps my memories are distorted with the passage of time and with some degree of nostalgia, and he surely was never a saint. Still, it’s pretty damned sad what’s become of the guy since then. But unfortunately drugs will do that to you.
