Marc,

"And with that said, having a bit more sports culture stuff on here could be compelling."

I like this idea. I'll pass it along.

Sincerely,

James

Sing it. I haven't missed a Philadelphia Eagles snap in 10 years, and I'm only 27. I watch the Eagles game with either a group of gay dudes (and the one straight boy who sometimes shows up) or a group of queer folks on the other end of town.

I'm from a homo tradition that knows our LeBron's, our Donovan's, our Tiger's and the whole lot of the relevant sports world. I'm also from a tradition that will politely inform his neighbor at the bar that he's being rude when he deragatorily calls Tony Romo a "Homo".

And with that said, having a bit more sports culture stuff on here could be compelling. As always James, keep up the work.

To bring this full circle, I'm a gay basketball fan and I look forward to LeBron James joining my beloved Knicks in 2010.

Hmmm, so many gay sports fans just on the board. May be prudent for Logo to do a regular gay sports show or to create a gay sports section of 351gay.com

No seriously? How can someone not know who LeBron James is. Not just cause he's some random NBA basketball player. Even if you don't follow sports, he was the guy who got picked right outta high school and got a multimillion dollar deal with Nike before he could even graduate. He was touted as being the next Michael Jordan and even got number 23! So even if you don't know anything about sports or follow sports, surely just for pop culture trivia's sake you know who he is.

On a serious note, there are many gays who like sports. This IS a stereotype and just because you are a gay who doesn't like sports doesn't make the stereotype true. Also there are gay athletes who are coming out now in professional sports.

as a gay sports fan who probably knows more about sports than the GQ writer, all I can say is that he needs to do more research and stop with the stereotypes

I just returned from a basketball game and Vanderbilt beat the Georgia Bulldawgs. I also went to the women's game on Sunday and Vanderbilt beat The Lady Vols. The audiences at most events are full of gay people. I have been to 5 or 6 Titan's games this year and attend football and basketball games several times a week. Weekends my partner and I watch whatever is on. LeBron used to date Ivory Latta from LSU I believe. Our star player autographed a Basketball for me because one of my students told him what a fan I am.
There are gay couples at every game I go to and there are many of them. The guys who say this stuff obviously don't attend major sporting events or they would know, as the team owners do, that Gay people support sporting events. So the guy who wrote this must be a weasely straight guy who has never sat in stadium. (I don't mean you James).Bars are where straight people go to cheat on their spouses.

So I know who LeBron James is, but I don't like pro-basketball. I'm more of a college ball guy. Better team involvement and less star-centered than the pros. But that's me.

Gay people would watch sports if it wasn't hostile to them and had openly gay players. I used to watch and play tons of sports as a kid but stopped because I realized I was supporting anti-gay oppression.

jman077: The Lions? Really? Man... the hardships of living in Detroit.

Although, I guess Green Bay didn't do that well this year, either. Stupid Vikings. :-P
